Once, a wolf roamed a forest in search of prey. As he approached a village at the edge of the forest, he spotted a flock of sheep grazing peacefully in a nearby pasture.

While he was devising a plan to kill a sheep, his eyes fell upon a sheep-skin lying by the footpath. A cunning idea struck him: he decided to wear the sheep-skin and blend into the flock, making it easier to catch his prey.

Disguised as a sheep, the wolf joined the flock unnoticed. That evening, the shepherd drove the entire flock back to the village and shut them in the pen for the night.

Soon after, the shepherd’s wife approached him and said, “We have nothing to cook for dinner. Kill one of the sheep for me.” The shepherd picked up his axe and went into the pen. Spotting the wolf in sheep’s clothing, he mistook him for a large, meaty sheep and killed him on the spot.

Thus, the wolf’s wickedness led to his own demise.

Moral: Wickedness often brings ruin to the wicked.
