The Wise Fox and the Deceptive Lion
Once upon a time, there was a lion who had grown so old and weak that he could no longer hunt for food. Hungry and desperate, he devised a cunning plan to survive. He decided to lie down in a cave, pretending to be gravely ill. His hope was that any kind-hearted animal who came to check on him would unknowingly walk into a trap—and become his meal.
The plan worked for a while, and several sympathetic animals fell victim to the lion’s deceit. But as they say, evil deeds rarely go unchallenged.
One day, a clever fox approached the cave. The fox, naturally cautious and observant, paused at the entrance. He noticed a peculiar pattern: countless footprints led into the cave, but none came out. Realizing the danger, the fox called out from a safe distance, “Good day, Lion! How are you feeling today?”
The lion, trying to mask his intentions, replied in a weak voice, “Ah, dear friend, I am terribly unwell. Won’t you come inside to keep me company?”
But the fox was too shrewd to be fooled. He responded, “Thank you for the invitation, but I can’t help but notice that while many have entered your cave, none seem to have come out. I’d rather stay safe and warn the others.”
With that, the fox spread the word to the other animals, and the lion’s wicked scheme was exposed. The old lion, abandoned and defeated, faced the consequences of his deceit.
Moral: Always observe carefully and trust your instincts when something seems suspicious. Deception is short-lived, and truth always prevails.
