The Test of Focus by Acharya Drona

Acharya Drona, the royal teacher of the princes of Hastinapur, was renowned for his wisdom and skill in archery. Among his students were the Pandavas and Kauravas, including the talented Arjuna, whom Drona regarded as his best student.

One day, Drona decided to test his students’ focus. He placed a wooden bird on a tree branch and instructed each student to aim at its eye. When Yudhishthira took aim, Drona asked, “What do you see?” Yudhishthira replied, “I see the bird, the branch, and the tree.” Drona then asked the other students the same question, and they gave similar answers, mentioning various surroundings.

Finally, it was Arjuna’s turn. When Drona asked him, “What do you see?” Arjuna replied, “I see only the eye of the bird.” Pleased with his answer, Drona allowed him to shoot. Arjuna’s arrow struck the bird’s eye perfectly, proving his exceptional focus and dedication.
