In the rugged lands of Gujarat, a group of ascetics had retreated deep into the forest to perform intense penance. Their goal was spiritual enlightenment, but a powerful demon, jealous of their progress, harassed them, breaking their concentration and threatening their lives.

Desperate for protection, the ascetics prayed to Chandika, who appeared as Simhavahini, the lion-rider. Her arrival was thunderous, and her lion let out a roar that shook the entire forest. The demon, although strong, was terrified by Simhavahini’s divine presence. He attempted to strike her with his magic, but Simhavahini swiftly retaliated. With her sword in one hand and her trident in another, she cut down the demon, bringing an end to his terror.

The ascetics, grateful for their protection, resumed their penance in peace, and Simhavahini became a symbol of divine protection for all spiritual seekers in the region.

Moral: This story shows that the divine protects those who walk the path of spiritual truth and righteousness. When one is focused on higher pursuits, help and protection will always come when needed.
