Long ago, in the southern part of the country, there lived a devout Brahmin who was married to two wives, Ghusma and Sudeha. Although they were a happy family, Ghusma’s devotion to Lord Shiva was profound, and she dedicated her life to his worship. However, Ghusma had no children, which left her feeling incomplete.

Seeing her sister’s sadness, Sudeha suggested that the Brahmin marry her as well, hoping this would bring them a child. Soon after, Ghusma gave birth to a son, and the family rejoiced. But as time passed, jealousy and resentment filled Sudeha’s heart. Consumed by envy, she plotted a terrible act.

One night, Sudeha killed Ghusma’s son and threw his body into a pond. When Ghusma awoke and discovered her son was missing, she was heartbroken. Yet, instead of succumbing to despair, she continued her daily ritual of creating Shiva lingas and offering them to the Lord, surrendering her pain to him.

In an incredible turn of events, her son rose from the pond, alive and well. As he walked back to his mother, Lord Shiva himself appeared. Shiva, angered by Sudeha’s cruel act, wanted to punish her, but Ghusma, filled with compassion, begged Shiva to forgive her sister.

Moved by Ghusma’s devotion and compassion, Shiva blessed her, and the place where this miracle occurred became known as Jyotirlinga Ghusmeshwar, where devotees continue to worship to this day.

**Moral:** True devotion is unwavering, even in the face of sorrow, and forgiveness is the highest form of strength. Compassion can heal even the deepest wounds.
