The Return to Ayodhya: Rama’s Coronation as King
With the defeat of Ravana, the long period of exile came to an end. Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana prepared to return to Ayodhya. Hanuman was sent ahead to inform the people of Rama’s impending return. The citizens of Ayodhya, who had long awaited their beloved prince’s return, were overjoyed and prepared a grand celebration.
As Rama’s chariot flew over Ayodhya, the people lit lamps to guide him home, and this day, marked by the lighting of diyas, is celebrated as Diwali, the festival of lights, symbolizing the victory of good over evil and light over darkness.
Upon his arrival, Rama was crowned king of Ayodhya in a grand coronation ceremony. His reign, known as Rama Rajya, was marked by peace, prosperity, and justice. He ruled with wisdom, ensuring that dharma was upheld and that every subject was treated with fairness.
Rama’s life, filled with trials and triumphs, became a beacon of dharma and righteousness, setting an ideal example for future generations.
Moral: A ruler who upholds dharma brings peace and prosperity to the land. Righteousness, even in the face of adversity, leads to a golden age of justice.
