An Exciting Tale of Friendship, Courage, and Peril | Retold by TaleTreasury

My name is Cassie. I’m not too tall, not too short—just comfortably in the middle. I’ve got jet-black hair and a curious mind that tends to get me into strange situations. Luckily, I’m not alone on this adventure. My best friend, Cody, is here too. He’s tall, with shaggy brown hair, and has an endless supply of sarcasm. Together, we’ve set out on a journey to—wait for it—save the world.

That was the plan, anyway. We just weren’t sure how to do it yet.

As we began our journey, Cody asked the obvious question.
“Hey, Cassie, do you even know what obstacles we’re going to face?”

I shrugged with a grin.
“No clue! Guess we’ll figure it out as we go.”

Not the most reassuring answer, but off we went—until the first obstacle came crashing into view: a wide, raging river blocking our path.

Cody groaned loudly. “Seriously?! How are we supposed to cross that? Do you have a plan, or was this supposed to solve itself?”

I thought for a moment. “We could swim across?”

Cody stared at me like I’d just suggested skydiving without a parachute.
“ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? We don’t even know how to swim! We’ll drown!”

“Okay, okay, calm down,” I said, trying not to sound nervous.

“Calm down? We’re either going to drown or sit here forever!”

We stood there, stuck between indecision and fear, until finally Cody sighed. “I guess swimming is our only option.”

With that, we cautiously waded into the water. Somehow—through luck, panic-driven flailing, and shallow spots—we made it across, collapsing onto the muddy bank, gasping for breath.

After drying off a bit, we continued our trek, only to hit our second obstacle: a giant boulder blocking the trail, surrounded by dense forest on both sides.

“Great,” Cody muttered. “Now what?”

“We could climb it?” I suggested.

“Too tall,” he replied flatly.

Suddenly, Cody’s eyes lit up. “We’re surrounded by trees. Let’s just go around through the woods!”

“Sure, but we stick together,” I warned. “Last thing we need is to get lost.”

We carefully navigated the dense forest, weaving between trees, crunching over leaves, and after a while, we emerged behind the boulder, back on the trail. Cody beamed with pride, and I had to admit—it was a smart move.

But just as we caught our breath, the third obstacle appeared, and this one was no joke.

Two clowns burst from the shadows of the trees, sprinting toward us—each wielding a roaring chainsaw. Their grinning masks twisted into horrifying smiles, and their name tags read Cupcake and Chubby—a disturbing contrast to their deadly intent.

Cody and I screamed, hearts pounding as we fled down the trail, dodging branches and stumbling over roots.

“What do we do?!” Cody shouted, his breath ragged.

“RUN FASTER!” I yelled back.

But the clowns were relentless. Their maniacal laughter echoed through the trees, and despite our efforts, they gained on us—closer and closer, until…

Everything went dark.

That’s right. We didn’t make it. The clowns caught up to us. We didn’t save the world. Not even close.

But here’s the thing—this wasn’t really the end.

When I opened my eyes, Cody and I were lying on a forest floor…completely unharmed. The clowns were gone, the chainsaws silent. Was it a dream? An illusion? Or some test of courage?

We looked at each other, breathless but alive.
“What just happened?” Cody whispered.

I didn’t know. But one thing was certain—we still had a world to save.

And next time? We’d be ready.

Moral of the Story

Even when the odds seem impossible and fear takes over, never give up. Every failure is a lesson, and every lesson brings you one step closer to success.
