The Lion and the Mouse

On a hot summer day, the sun blazed brightly in the sky as a mighty lion sat under the shade of a large tree, enjoying a peaceful nap. Nearby, in a small hole beneath the tree, lived a little mouse. Seeing the lion asleep, the curious mouse came out of its hole and had an idea.

The mouse, unaware of the lion’s strength, thought it would be amusing to run across the lion’s body to wake him up. So, the little mouse scampered up onto the lion’s back, but before it could get far, the lion woke up and caught the mouse in his powerful paw.

The mouse, terrified for its life, begged the lion to let it go. The lion, being generous by nature, decided to show mercy and set the mouse free. As the mouse scurried away, it promised the lion that it would repay the kindness if the opportunity ever arose. The lion chuckled, amused at the thought of how a tiny mouse could ever help the mighty king of the jungle.

A few days later, the lion found himself trapped in a hunter’s net, unable to free himself. The mouse happened to pass by and, hearing the lion’s roars of distress, rushed to help. The little mouse immediately began gnawing at the ropes of the net with its sharp teeth. Before long, the mouse had chewed through the ropes, setting the lion free.

The lion, astonished by the mouse’s bravery and kindness, realized that even the smallest creatures can be of great help.

Moral of the story: Mercy never goes unrewarded. A kind act can come back in unexpected ways, and everyone, no matter how small, has something valuable to offer.
