Once upon a time, in a distant kingdom surrounded by lush forests and flowing rivers, there lived a kind and clever boy named Omar. He was the son of the palace servant and grew up with his father in a small, modest house nestled behind the grand royal palace. Though Omar had never known his mother, who had passed away shortly after his birth, he was never truly lonely — for he had the company of the young princess.

Omar and the princess were the same age, and their days were filled with play, laughter, and secrets shared within the palace gardens and halls. They played with the princess’s finest toys and read tales of distant lands. Their bond was special, pure, and unbreakable — or so it seemed.

The Magical Pendant

One day, in the midst of their playful adventures, the princess revealed her greatest secret to Omar — a dazzling golden pendant. She whispered that it was a gift from her great-grandmother and held within it the power to grant one wish — but only one. There was a warning passed down with the pendant: one must never make a wish in anger, for doing so would result in irreversible loss.

The princess told Omar her dream — that one day, she would use the pendant to wish for a golden castle and a handsome prince. Until then, the pendant remained tucked away in her drawer, waiting for the perfect moment.

The King’s Favor

While the princess attended her royal lessons, Omar stayed behind, helping his father with chores around the palace. But he was eager to learn, and the princess often lent him her books. Omar was a quick learner, and soon, he could read and write as well as — if not better than — the princess.

The king, observing Omar’s sharp mind and kind nature, took a liking to him. He invited Omar to accompany him on his hunting trips, something the princess had never been permitted to do. This favor from her father stirred a deep jealousy in the princess’s heart. She began to feel replaced, her special bond with Omar seemingly slipping away.

When the king arranged for Omar to attend school — the very same royal academy the princess attended — things only worsened. Omar excelled in his studies, quickly rising to the top of the class. The princess, who had always been the best, burned with resentment. She decided then and there that she would no longer speak to Omar. And when her birthday approached, for the first time in years, she did not invite him to the grand celebration.

A Dangerous Wish

On the day of the party, the king noticed Omar’s absence. Concerned, he asked the princess why her old friend was not there. The question struck a bitter chord, and the princess, overwhelmed with frustration, fled to her room in tears. She felt invisible, unloved by her own father, as though Omar had stolen all attention from her.

Blinded by anger and pain, the princess did the unthinkable. She opened her drawer, grasped the golden pendant, and shouted:

“May Omar turn into a tree! A tree that no one will ever notice, standing lonely forever!”

In an instant, a dark magic spread through the palace. The walls, the people, everything within began to crumble into ash, leaving only silence and ruin. Omar, wherever he was, transformed into a solitary tree — tall, silent, and forgotten, cursed to bear a single bloom only once every hundred years. Only a kiss of true love placed upon the flower could break the spell.

Centuries Passed…

Generations came and went, and Omar stood, rooted and alone, atop a grassy hill. Until one fine afternoon, a new princess, bright and kind-hearted, found herself resting beneath his branches. She was pondering love and the idea of marriage, wishing for a suitor who was kind above all else — even if he looked like a beast.

As she thought, a delicate flower drifted down from the tree, landing gently in her hair. She picked it up, marveling at its beauty and fragrance, and without knowing why, kissed the blossom tenderly.

Suddenly, the earth trembled, the wind whispered, and when she looked again — the tree was gone. In its place stood a handsome young man with gentle eyes.

“Who are you?” she asked, startled but curious.

“Do not be afraid,” the young man said warmly. “My name is Omar. I was cursed long ago by a friend who wished me into a tree. Only a kiss of true love on my flower could set me free — and it was you who saved me.”

Touched by his story and his soft-spoken nature, the princess invited Omar to the palace. There, her parents, the king and queen, were charmed by his humility and grace. After hearing his tale, they saw in Omar not just a man of fortune but a man of heart.

The princess admitted her feelings openly:

“I would gladly marry Omar, if he would have me.”

Overwhelmed with joy and gratitude, Omar accepted her hand. A grand wedding followed, attended by royals and common folk from distant lands, celebrating the love that had broken a centuries-old curse.

Moral of the Story

Envy and anger can destroy more than we imagine, but love — pure and kind — can restore even the most forgotten souls. Kindness, humility, and a loving heart are treasures that no amount of magic can replicate.
