The Consequences of Mocking Bahlool Again

Bahlool was sitting with Harun al-Rashid when a large group of the Caliph’s courtiers were present. As usual, Harun wanted to make fun of Bahlool. At that moment, the sound of a horse neighing came from the stable. Harun mockingly said to Bahlool, “Go and see what that animal is saying. It seems it has something to say to you.”

Bahlool went to the stable and returned, saying, “The horse says, ‘Man, don’t you feel ashamed sitting with these donkeys? Leave this gathering quickly, before their stupidity starts affecting you!’”
