The Blessing of Humility Toward a Teacher
A tale is told about a wise scholar, the esteemed Mr. Ilahi, may he rest in peace. When he graciously agreed to teach the Hikmat Manzuma (Philosophy of Mulla Sadra), I eagerly shared the news with many students who had been waiting for such an opportunity.
In the first week, more than fifty students attended the class, eager to learn. However, by the second week, only I remained. Week after week, it was just the two of us—the teacher and myself.
One night, after a lesson, he gave me a piece of advice that became a beacon for my journey in knowledge. He said, “You will see blessings in the path of knowledge.”
Hearing this, I immediately said, “Amen!” and then asked him, “Why do you bless me with such good news?”
He replied, “It is because of the respect and humility you show toward your teachers. Your courtesy and reverence for them will bring you great blessings.”
This tale reminds us that the prayers of a righteous scholar and the humility of a sincere student can lead to remarkable success in the pursuit of knowledge.
