In the vibrant Vijayanagara Empire, a sinister figure moved among the people—a cunning impostor disguised as a monk. This so-called “holy man” was anything but pious. Beneath his polished manners and eloquent speech lay a ruthless criminal who exploited animosities for his gain.

The monk’s modus operandi was chillingly deceptive. He would target disputes, siding with the wealthier party, and promising to eliminate their adversaries. Feigning spirituality, he would infiltrate the enemy’s household, pretending to be a guest seeking shelter. At the right moment, he would poison their food, leaving them dead or mentally shattered. His cruelty knew no bounds, and his victims were numerous.

However, his reign of terror was destined to end when he crossed paths with Tenali Raman. One day, as the monk walked the streets, Raman encountered him alongside one of his surviving victims—a man rendered mentally unstable by the monk’s treachery. Raman, recognizing the fake monk’s true nature, decided it was time for justice.

With calculated calmness, Raman introduced the victim to the monk, recounting the suffering the man had endured. The mental patient, overwhelmed by rage and recognizing his tormentor, erupted into violence. In a fit of fury, he struck down the fake monk, ending his sinister acts forever.

Tenali Raman stood silently, witnessing the poetic justice unfold. “A fraud has met his fate,” he thought, relieved that the Empire was rid of one more wicked soul.

Moral of the Story:
Evil deeds eventually catch up with the wrongdoer. No matter how clever one is, deceit and malice cannot escape justice forever.
