The Tale of the Baby Camel and Its Mother: A Story of Purpose
One sunny afternoon, a mother camel and her baby lay lazily in a zoo enclosure. As they rested, the baby camel looked up at its mother, curiosity shining in its eyes.
“Mother, may I ask you something?” the baby camel inquired hesitantly.
“Of course, my dear. What’s on your mind?” the mother replied warmly.
The baby camel tilted its head and asked, “Why do camels have humps?”
The mother smiled and explained, “Well, my child, we are desert animals. Our humps store water, enabling us to survive for long periods without drinking. It’s what makes us unique and resilient.”
The baby thought for a moment and then asked, “Why do we have such long legs and rounded feet?”
Proudly, the mother responded, “Our long legs and broad, rounded feet are designed for walking in the desert. They help us tread effortlessly over the soft, shifting sands.”
The baby’s curiosity wasn’t satisfied yet. “And what about our long eyelashes? Sometimes they block my view.”
The mother chuckled and said, “Ah, those thick, long eyelashes are a blessing! They shield our eyes from the harsh desert winds and flying sand. They’re essential for survival in our natural habitat.”
The baby camel grew quiet, contemplating its mother’s words. Then, with a puzzled expression, it asked, “So, if our humps store water for the desert, our legs are for walking in the desert, and our eyelashes protect us from the desert sand… what are we doing here in a zoo?”
The mother camel had no answer. She sighed deeply, realizing the profound truth in her child’s question.
