Snow White Retold: The Tale of Summer Blue
Snow White Retold: The Tale of Summer Blue
Once Upon a Time
In a faraway kingdom, a queen gave birth to a child with skin as pale as snow and hair as dark as midnight. Believing she had a daughter, the queen named the baby Snow White, imagining a future full of grace and elegance. But fate had other plans.
Shortly after naming the child, the queen passed away. Her husband, the king, vowed to raise Snow White with all the love and care in his heart. Yet as the child grew, it became clear that Snow White wasn’t a princess.
At the age of three, the child declared with unwavering confidence, “Father, I am not a princess—I am a prince, just like my brothers.”
The king, a kind and understanding man, embraced his youngest child’s identity. Inspired by the summer sky’s brightness, he renamed him Summer Blue. For a time, the kingdom prospered, and all was well.
A Wicked Queen
Years later, the king remarried a duchess from a distant land to secure peace between their realms. But shortly after their marriage, tragedy struck again—the king fell ill and died.
With the throne left vacant, the queen seized power. She was ambitious, cunning, and ruthless, determined to expand the kingdom into a vast empire. To this end, she arranged strategic marriages for Summer Blue’s older brothers to forge alliances with powerful but wicked rulers.
When it came to Summer Blue, however, the queen had a far darker plan.
“It is unbecoming for you to continue pretending to be a prince when you are truly a princess, Snow White,” she sneered. “You will marry a prince and secure his kingdom for me.”
Summer Blue stood his ground. “I will never lie about who I am. And I will never rule as you do!”
Furious, the queen locked Summer Blue in a tower, forcing him to wear dresses and stripping him of his identity. “You will remain here until you accept your true role,” she hissed.
Escape to Fairy Land
For nearly a year, Summer Blue endured his imprisonment, plotting his escape. Then, one spring evening, the queen left on a journey to find a prince for her “stepdaughter.”
Seizing his chance, Summer Blue slipped away under the cover of darkness. Armed only with a sword, a map to the mythical Fairy Land, and the dress on his back, he fled into the night.
For two days, Summer Blue traveled through the forest. By the second night, exhaustion weighed heavily on him. As darkness fell, a pack of wolves emerged from the shadows, their eyes gleaming hungrily.
Cornered, Summer Blue drew his sword, prepared to fight for his life. But before the wolves could pounce, a commanding voice rang out. A dwarf stepped into the torchlight, wielding magic that sent the wolves scattering.
“What’s a lass like you doing in the woods at night?” the dwarf asked, his tone gruff but concerned.
“I am not a lass,” Summer Blue rasped, wrapping himself in the dwarf’s cloak. “I am a prince fleeing my wicked step-mother.”
The dwarf’s stern face softened. “You’ve found your way to Fairy Land, lad. Come with me. My brothers and I will give you shelter.”
A New Family
The seven dwarves welcomed Summer Blue into their home with open arms. They taught him the ways of the forest, the mines, and the fae. Over the years, he grew strong, wise, and confident, his identity fully embraced.
By the time Summer Blue reached adulthood, he had become a master of the dwarves’ craft. His courage and resilience had transformed him into a figure of respect and admiration in Fairy Land.
The Fairy Princess
One fateful day, Summer Blue saved a fairy princess named Sunrise Rose from a human servant sent by the queen. The princess, fleeing an unwanted marriage, was fiery and bold, with emerald eyes and hair like flames.
As they walked back to the dwarves’ home, Summer Blue and Sunrise Rose shared their stories. By the time they arrived, they had fallen deeply in love.
The Queen’s Treachery
The queen, relentless in her pursuit, disguised herself as a beggar and poisoned Summer Blue with a slice of apple pie. The dwarves and Sunrise Rose found him lifeless in the forest.
Desperate to save him, Sunrise Rose kissed Summer Blue, breaking the spell with the power of true love.
Happily Ever After
Summer Blue and Sunrise Rose were wed in a grand ceremony, uniting the mortal and fairy realms. Together, they built a world where kindness and authenticity triumphed over cruelty and deceit.
The dwarves’ mines became famous throughout the land, and peace flourished for generations.
And so, Summer Blue and Sunrise Rose lived happily ever after.
