Ravana’s Deception to Win Sita
Ravana, the king of Lanka, was determined to make Sita his queen. Unable to win her heart through kindness, he resorted to deceit. He went to a rakshasi (demoness) named Vidyut Jibva and asked her to create an illusion—a lifelike replica of Rama’s head.
With the false head in hand, Ravana approached Sita and showed it to her, saying, “Look, you foolish woman! Your beloved Rama is dead. I have killed him. Now, you have no choice but to marry me.”
Believing Ravana’s cruel words, Sita was heartbroken. She wept for Rama, overcome by grief. However, her companion, Trijata, comforted her and assured her that Ravana’s display was merely a trick. Trijata had seen a vision in her dreams, showing that Rama was nearing Lanka to rescue her. Reassured by Trijata’s words, Sita held onto hope and steeled herself against Ravana’s lies.
Ravana returned to his palace, laughing at his supposed triumph, unaware that his deception had failed to break Sita’s spirit. Her unwavering faith in Rama’s love and courage gave her strength to endure her captivity.
**Moral:** True love and faith cannot be shaken by lies or deception. Inner strength and trust help overcome even the darkest moments.
