Little Helpers, Big Impact: The Lion and the Mouse
On a scorching summer day, a lion rested beneath the shade of a large tree, eventually falling into a deep sleep. Nearby, a small mouse lived in a hole under the tree. As the lion slept, the curious mouse crept out and noticed the majestic creature snoring peacefully.
Feeling mischievous, the mouse thought it would be amusing to wake the lion by scampering across his body. But as it dashed over the lion’s fur, the mighty beast awoke, catching the mouse in his powerful paw.
Furious, the lion prepared to kill the tiny creature. Trembling with fear, the mouse pleaded, “Please spare my life! I may be small, but someday I might repay your kindness.”
The lion, amused by the mouse’s bold words, chuckled and let it go, thinking, What could this tiny creature ever do for me?
Days later, the lion found himself trapped in a hunter’s net beneath the same tree. Helpless, he roared loudly in frustration. Hearing his cries, the mouse emerged from its hole. Realizing the lion’s plight, the mouse sprang into action, gnawing through the thick ropes of the net with its sharp teeth. Before long, the lion was free.
Grateful, the lion said, “I never imagined someone so small could be of such great help. Thank you, my little friend.”
Moral of the Story:
No act of kindness is ever wasted, and even the smallest creature can make a big difference.
