Krishna Marries Five Queens – The Bonds of Love and Valor

When Mitravinda, the princess of the kingdom of Avanti, chose Lord Krishna as her husband during her swayamvara, Duryodhana was infuriated. He watched helplessly as Krishna, undeterred by any opposition, took his bride away with him. Mitravinda’s choice reflected her devotion to Krishna, and she was overjoyed to be united with him.

In another kingdom, King Nagnajit of Kosala had a beautiful daughter named Satya, also known as Nagnajiti. Nagnajit set a unique condition for her marriage: only a brave man who could tame seven wild bulls would be worthy of her hand. When Krishna arrived and accepted the challenge, he impressed everyone with his valor by taming the ferocious bulls effortlessly. Overwhelmed by Krishna’s strength and divinity, Nagnajit was pleased to marry his daughter to him in a grand ceremony.

Krishna’s third marriage was to Bhadra, the princess of Kaikeya. Her brothers, recognizing Krishna’s virtue and nobility, willingly offered their sister’s hand to him. Krishna accepted, and their union was celebrated with much joy and splendor.

Later, when Lakshmana, the beautiful daughter of the king of Madra, prayed fervently for Krishna to be her husband, her wish was granted. When Krishna appeared at her swayamvara, she immediately chose him, and they were married with the blessings of her family.

Through his marriages to these five queens—Mitravinda, Satya, Bhadra, Lakshmana, and others—Krishna established bonds of love and respect. Each queen chose him for his qualities of valor, divinity, and compassion, and each marriage strengthened the ties between their kingdoms and his.
