Invitation to Bahlool for Food

One day, Harun al-Rashid invited Bahlul to dine with him. When Bahlul entered, Harun ordered food to be brought for him. A loaf of bread was presented to Bahlul, and he immediately ran away. Harun called out, “Where are you going?”

Bahlul replied, “I am going to seek sustenance, and I will return tomorrow. Perhaps by then, you will have prepared some meat.”
