Once, there was a hunter named Suswara who ventured deep into the forest. As night fell, darkness enveloped the forest, making it impossible for him to find his way home. For his safety, Suswara climbed a bael tree to spend the night.

That particular night was Shivaratri, a holy night dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. Suswara, unaware of its significance, spent the night wide awake, thinking of his family and feeling pangs of hunger and thirst. To pass the time, he began plucking leaves from the bael tree and dropping them to the ground below.

Unbeknownst to him, there was a Shiva linga, a representation of Lord Shiva, under the tree. The leaves that he dropped unknowingly fell onto the linga, and his tears of longing for his family fell as well, symbolically bathing the deity. In his state of fasting, staying awake, and offering bael leaves, Suswara had inadvertently performed a ritual of deep devotion to Lord Shiva.

Years passed, and when Suswara’s time on earth ended, two divine messengers of Shiva arrived to escort him to heaven. They explained that, on that night of Shivaratri, Suswara had unknowingly worshipped Lord Shiva through his fasting, wakefulness, and offerings. His unintentional devotion had granted him divine blessings.

**Moral:** Sometimes, even unintentional acts of goodness or devotion bring great rewards. The purity of heart and sincerity of actions, even when unintended, can lead to blessings.
