Once upon a time, in a thick forest, a mouse lived in a hole near a pool. A frog often came out of the water to bask in the sun, and before long, the mouse and the frog became friends.

However, a friendship between a frog and a mouse was quite unnatural, as their homes were very different—one lived on land, the other in water.

One day, the frog suggested, “Let’s tie ourselves together with a string so that we may never be separated.” The mouse, trusting his friend, agreed, and they tied their legs together with a string.

On land, everything seemed fine, but when the frog leaped into the pool, tragedy struck. The frog swam about joyfully, dragging the mouse with him. Unable to swim, the poor mouse drowned, and his lifeless body floated to the surface.

As fate would have it, a kite flying above spotted the dead mouse and swooped down to grab it. Since the frog was still tied to the mouse, he was pulled along and became the kite’s meal as well.

Moral: An unnatural friendship often leads to disaster.
