The Fox and the Grapes: A Lesson in Resilience
One day, a hungry fox wandered through the forest in search of food. Weakened by hunger and exhaustion, he stumbled upon a garden where a grapevine hung heavy with ripe, juicy grapes.
The fox’s eyes lit up with hope as he gazed at the luscious fruit. His mouth watered, and he thought, “If only I could reach those grapes, they would satisfy my hunger!”
But the grapes hung high above, out of his reach. Determined, the fox rested for a moment to gather his strength, then leaped with all his might—but failed.
Unwilling to give up, he tried again after resting briefly. Once more, his efforts were in vain. The fox tried and failed several more times until finally, he grew frustrated and gave up.
As he walked away, he muttered bitterly, “Those grapes aren’t worth the trouble. They must be sour anyway.”
Moral: It’s common to belittle what we cannot achieve.
