The Farmer and the Flies: A Cautionary Tale
Once upon a time, a farmer gathered honey from a beehive after driving away the bees with smoke. He poured the honey into a pot and began walking home, satisfied with his harvest.
Unfortunately, as he walked, he tripped over a stone. The pot slipped from his hands, shattering on the ground. The sticky honey spilled everywhere, forming a glistening puddle. The farmer tried to salvage what he could, but it was hopeless. Frustrated, he cursed his misstep and walked away empty-handed.
Not long after, a swarm of flies, lured by the sweet aroma, swarmed the spilled honey. Overcome by greed, they descended eagerly, feasting on the golden syrup. But when they tried to fly away, they realized their wings and legs were trapped in the sticky mess.
As they struggled in vain, the flies lamented, “How foolish we were! For a fleeting moment of pleasure, we’ve paid with our lives.” By then, it was too late for regret.
Moral of the Story:
Hasty actions and unchecked desires often lead to irreversible consequences. Repentance cannot undo what is already done.
