Two donkeys, long-time pals, bumped into each other at a crossroads. One looked as fit as a fiddle, while the other looked like he’d been living off grass clippings for the past decade.

The healthy donkey, looking concerned, asked, “Hey, buddy, what happened to you? You look like you’ve been starving for weeks!”

The skinny donkey sighed heavily, as if the weight of the world was on his shoulders. “Well, my master works me like a slave. He barely feeds me, and when he does, it’s like a few leaves and a tiny sip of water. I’m basically on a donkey-sized diet. And the beatings? Man, I’ve had more bruises than a sack of potatoes!”

The fit donkey shook his head in disbelief. “That’s awful! So, why don’t you just run away?”

The weak donkey let out a little laugh, but it was more of a resigned chuckle than a funny one. “Oh, I’ve thought about it. But here’s the thing—my job has great prospects.”

The healthy donkey tilted his head, confused. “What do you mean?”

The weak donkey grinned, his eyes glinting. “Well, my master also beats his daughter. And whenever he does, he turns to her and says, ‘I’m going to marry you off to this donkey.’”

The fit donkey blinked in shock. “Wait, WHAT? He wants to marry you off to his daughter?”

“Oh yeah,” the weak donkey said, his voice low and serious. “Love might be a little… rough around here, but hey, at least I’ve got family business to look forward to.”

The healthy donkey stared at him, speechless for a second, before letting out a long sigh. “So you’re staying for… love? And a chance to marry the boss’s daughter?”

The weak donkey nodded with a dramatic flourish, as if this was the most logical plan ever. “Exactly. I mean, what’s a little starvation and a few beatings when there’s a family legacy involved, right?”
