Tale Treasury

Writer Policy

Content Guidelines

Tale Treasury is built for readers of different ages, including families and younger audiences. Writers can publish mature themes when appropriate, but graphic adult content and explicit erotic storytelling are not allowed on this platform.

How To Choose

Pick the right target audience

Select the audience level that matches the tale's strongest scenes, emotional weight, and overall reading maturity. Use the guide below when choosing between All Ages, kids, teen, and adult ranges.

All Ages

Universal

Tales suitable for readers of all ages. These stories are wholesome, gentle, and universally appropriate, with themes that can be enjoyed by both children and adults.

Choose This When

Choose this when your tale stays safe, soft, and comfortable for families, classrooms, and mixed-age readers.

7+

Kids

Very light tales written in simple language with gentle themes and clear, easy-to-understand lessons. No horror, romance, or disturbing scenes. Best suited for young children.

Choose This When

Choose this when the story is made for younger children and avoids fear, romance, heavy sadness, and dark tension.

10+

Older Kids

Slightly more developed tales with mild adventure, emotional moments, and simple conflict. May include light suspense, fantasy danger, or small sad moments, but nothing intense, frightening, or graphic.

Choose This When

Choose this when the tale adds light adventure or emotion, but still remains clearly child-safe and easy to process.

13+

Early Teens

Tales with stronger emotional themes, deeper conflict, and more complex characters. May include mild romance, suspense, darker fantasy elements, or emotional struggles, while remaining free from graphic violence and explicit adult material.

Choose This When

Choose this when the tone becomes more serious or emotionally layered, but still avoids graphic intensity.

16+

Mature Teens

More intense tales with darker themes and stronger emotional depth. May include moderate horror, betrayal, revenge, trauma, deeper romance, and serious moral conflict. Suitable for older teen readers.

Choose This When

Choose this when the story carries heavier themes, sharper fear, stronger trauma, or more mature emotional conflict.

18+ Mature Themes

Adults

Tales intended for adult readers due to mature and potentially disturbing themes. May include strong horror, violence, abuse, psychological darkness, and complex adult subject matter. Tales containing graphic adult content are not permitted.

Choose This When

Choose this only when the tale is clearly for adults because of dark or disturbing subject matter, not because it contains erotic or explicit sexual material.

How The Selector Works

What writers can select together

All Ages is exclusive

Use All Ages only when the whole tale is truly safe for everyone. It should not be combined with teen or adult levels.

7+ and 10+ can work as a pair

Use 7+ or 10+ on their own, or combine them when the tale sits between younger kids and older kids without moving into teen territory.

13+ and 16+ can work as a pair

Use 13+ or 16+ on their own, or combine them when the tale fits teen readers but lands between early-teen and mature-teen intensity.

18+ Mature Themes is exclusive

Use 18+ only when the story is clearly for adults because of dark, disturbing, or psychologically heavy material. It is not a mix-and-match label.

Simple Examples

If you are unsure, start here

  • A bedtime-style animal tale with gentle language: choose All Ages.
  • A child-safe adventure with light suspense and mild danger: choose 7+, 10+, or both.
  • A darker fantasy with betrayal and emotional pressure for teens: choose 13+, 16+, or both.
  • A disturbing psychological tale for adults without graphic sexual content: choose 18+ Mature Themes.

Final Rule

If you are choosing between two audience levels, use the more protective option. On Tale Treasury, it is better to slightly overprotect younger readers than to under-label a stronger tale.

Not Allowed

Graphic adult content

Even when a tale is marked 18+, it must not contain graphic sexual content, explicit sexual acts, pornographic scenes, or erotic material. On Tale Treasury, 18+ is for mature themes, not explicit adult content.

Writer Checklist

Before you save a tale

  • Think about the youngest reader who could safely read the tale from beginning to end.
  • Rate the tale based on its strongest scenes, not just its general tone.
  • If a story includes mature themes but no graphic adult content, 16+ or 18+ may still be appropriate.
  • If you are unsure between two levels, choose the more protective rating.
