Balvala was a fearsome demon, known for his striking appearance with bright red hair, beard, and mustache, and yellow, claw-like teeth. His actions were as dreadful as his looks—he tormented the sages of Naimisaranya, desecrating their holy grounds with blood and defiling their sacred fires. Unable to endure his misdeeds any longer, the sages sought help from Balarama, a powerful warrior and the brother of Krishna.

The sages informed Balarama that during their holy rituals, he would encounter Balvala and could end the demon’s terror. Balarama prepared himself for the encounter by visiting various holy places to cleanse and strengthen his spirit, ensuring he would be ready to face the demon’s impurities.

As Balvala flew through the sky on his chariot, Balarama appeared, armed with his mighty plow and club. With one swift motion, he pulled Balvala down from the sky using his plow. Then, wielding his club with formidable strength, Balarama struck Balvala, shattering the demon’s head in two.

The people of Naimisaranya rejoiced, relieved from the demon’s tyranny, and expressed their gratitude to Balarama. The sages then performed sacred rites to purify Balarama from the impurities left by his encounter with the wicked Balvala, ensuring his spirit remained pure.

**Moral:** Evil may seem powerful, but it cannot withstand the force of righteousness. Courage and purity of spirit will always triumph over darkness and wickedness.
