One of those who knew Bahlool decided to try to deceive him. Seeing Bahlool’s pure belief, the man thought of exploiting this trait to achieve his goal and decided to put his plan into action. One day, he approached Bahlool and said, “Greetings to Bahlool, the noble and self-sacrificing one.”

Bahlool responded, “Peace be upon you.”

The man said, “I had a strange dream last night.”

Bahlool asked, “What dream? I hope it is a good one.”

The man, putting on a sympathetic and righteous expression, said, “In my dream, I saw that you had given me one hundred gold dinars.”

Bahlool, having realized that the man intended to deceive him by playing on his emotions, smiled and said, “Yes, that is exactly what you saw. But since you are a good person, know this: I will never ask for those one hundred dinars back from you.”

The man became embarrassed and realized that Bahlool had more wisdom in his head than he had expected.

This story highlights Bahlool’s quick wit and wisdom, turning the man’s attempt at trickery into a lesson about integrity and foresight.
