Bahlool’s Opinion on Harun al-Rashid’s Value

Harun al-Rashid and Bahlool went to the bathhouse together. Harun asked Bahlool, “If I were a slave, how much would I be worth?”
Bahlool answered, “Fifty dinars.”
Harun, upset, said, “You fool! The loincloth I’m wearing is worth fifty dinars, and you say I’m worth that much?”
Bahlool calmly replied, “I was only counting the loincloth. The Caliph has no real value.”
