Bahlool and the Servant

One of Harun al-Rashid’s servants had eaten some yogurt and accidentally spilled some of it on his beard. Bahlool asked him what he had eaten, and the servant, attempting to mock Bahlool, said, “I ate pigeon.”

Bahlool replied, “I knew that even before you said it.”

The servant asked, “How did you know?”

Bahlool answered, “Because there’s pigeon droppings on your beard!”
