One day, a poor servant approached the base of the minaret of a mosque, where Bahlool was praying. The servant, thinking the voice was coming from heaven, asked, “O God, how much is a thousand years in Your eyes?” Bahlool replied, “O my servant, it’s as if it were one moment.” The servant then asked, “O God, how much is a thousand dinars in Your eyes?” Bahlool answered, “O my servant, it’s as if it were one dinar.” The servant said, “Then grant me one dinar.” Bahlool replied, “Wait one moment.”

In this tale, Bahlool humorously teaches the servant about patience, showing that what may seem like a long wait or a significant amount to humans is ultimately insignificant in the grand scheme of time and value in God’s eyes.
