Bahlool and the Deeds of the Two Caliphs
One day, a prominent scholar approached Bahlool and said, “It is narrated in an authentic tradition that on the Day of Judgment, the deeds of the two caliphs (sheikhein) will be placed on one side of the scale, and the deeds of the entire humanity on the other. Their deeds will outweigh all others.”
Bahlool, with his characteristic sharpness, replied, “If that tradition is true, then the problem must lie in the scale.”
Bahlool’s response, delivered with both humor and subtlety, pointed out the logical flaw in the claim, leaving the scholar speechless and the audience in quiet reflection.
