A Genie’s Wish is Fulfilled
One bright afternoon, as the golden sun filtered through the towering trees of the forest, a young boy named Amir wandered along a narrow path. He often roamed these woods, collecting curious stones and marveling at the creatures that scurried beneath the thick canopy. But on this day, something different caught his eye—a strange object, half-buried in the dirt near the roots of an ancient tree.
Brushing away the soil, Amir uncovered a beautiful golden lamp, its surface dulled with dust and time. His fingers traced the delicate engravings, and with a curious heart, he rubbed the lamp gently.
At once, a thick plume of smoke erupted from its spout, swirling like a storm, filling the air with shimmering golden mist. Amir stumbled back as a figure began to emerge—a towering form with deep violet skin, adorned in flowing robes, eyes glowing like embers.
The Genie had awoken.
“Greetings, young one,” the Genie’s booming yet soothing voice filled the air. “For freeing me from my slumber, I shall grant you three wishes. Choose wisely.”
Amir’s heart pounded. He had heard of Genies in stories, but never in his wildest dreams did he think he would meet one.
With great excitement, he thought carefully about what he could ask for. He imagined palaces of gold, endless feasts, the ability to fly like a bird—but then, his mind turned to those he loved.
For his first wish, he spoke, “Genie, I wish for good health for myself and my family, so that we may never suffer from illness or pain.”
The Genie smiled, nodding. “A noble choice,” he said, and with a wave of his hand, a golden light shimmered around Amir. “It is done.”
Encouraged by the Genie’s approval, Amir thought about his second wish. He knew his parents worked tirelessly to provide for him, yet they often struggled. With a deep breath, he made his second wish.
“Genie, I wish for financial security for my family, so that they may live comfortably and never fear hunger or hardship.”
The Genie’s eyes gleamed with admiration. “Another selfless wish,” he said, waving his hand once more. “Your family will never know poverty again.”
Amir’s heart swelled with happiness, but as he prepared to make his final wish, a thought crossed his mind. The Genie had given him the power to change his own life—but what about others?
He hesitated, then looked up at the towering figure before him. “Genie,” he said slowly, “I have everything I need now. My final wish… I would like to give my last wish to someone else.”
The forest fell silent.
For a moment, the Genie’s eyes widened in shock, then a deep, echoing laugh erupted from his lips. His laughter shook the trees, sending leaves dancing through the air.
“Ah, my boy,” the Genie said at last, his voice filled with warmth. “For thousands of years, I have granted wishes, but none have ever chosen to give their last wish away.” He studied Amir carefully, his glowing eyes filled with something akin to pride.
“Do you know why I was placed in this lamp?” the Genie asked.
Amir shook his head.
“I was once like you—a mortal who was given great power. But to pass on this gift, I needed to find someone worthy, someone with a heart pure enough to use it for good. And now, I have found that person.”
A brilliant golden light surrounded the boy, lifting him off the ground. The warmth of the magic filled his veins, and he felt something shift inside him. The moment the light faded, the Genie smiled one last time.
“From this day forward, Amir, you shall inherit my power. You may now grant wishes to others, just as I once did.”
Before Amir could speak, the Genie began to fade, his misty form swirling back into the lamp. But just before he disappeared entirely, he whispered, “Remember, the greatest joy does not come from receiving, but from giving.”
Amir stood there for a long moment, his hands trembling as he held the now-empty lamp. He had come to the forest as a simple boy—but he was leaving as something far greater.
With newfound purpose, he ran back toward his village.
The first person he met was a child in a wooden wheelchair, watching others play from the sidelines, longing to join them. With a single touch, Amir whispered a wish, and the boy stood on his own feet for the first time.
Next, he found a man, frail and weak, his body consumed by illness. Amir granted his wish, and the man was healed, his strength restored.
As the days passed, Amir traveled far and wide, bringing hope to the hopeless, light to the lost. He saw tears of joy, heard laughter that rang like music, and felt the warmth of gratitude in every heart he touched.
It was then that Amir realized the truth.
Having his own wishes fulfilled had brought happiness… but granting them to others brought something even greater—true fulfillment.
And so, Amir continued his journey, a young boy no longer, but a bringer of miracles.
And somewhere, deep within the golden lamp, the Genie smiled—his own wish, at last, fulfilled.
