The Grasshopper and the Ants: A Lesson in Preparation
One fine winter day, a grasshopper was basking in the warm sun. But he was feeling extremely hungry, as he had not eaten anything since the previous night.
Desperately looking for food, he noticed a group of ants carrying grains into their hole. The grasshopper approached them and pleaded humbly, “Dear friends, could you spare a few grains for me? I am starving and haven’t eaten since yesterday.”
One of the ants stopped and asked, “What were you doing during the summer? Why didn’t you store food for the winter, as we did?”
The grasshopper, feeling ashamed, replied, “To be honest, I spent the summer singing and enjoying myself, and I didn’t think about the future.”
The ant chuckled and said, “Then perhaps you should spend the winter dancing away, just as you sang through the summer.” The grasshopper, dejected and regretful, walked away hungry.
Moral: Work is real worship, and preparation today ensures a secure tomorrow.
