Once, a deer was grazing peacefully in a forest when a hunter spotted him from afar and began chasing him. Seeing the hunter approach, the deer quickly fled to save his life.

The chase was intense, but the deer soon outpaced the hunter and found a thick vine growing by the roadside. Seeking safety, he hid under its dense cover. The hunter passed by without noticing him, and the deer sighed with relief.

Believing the danger had passed, the deer, now relaxed, began nibbling on the vine’s leaves. The rustling noise caught the attention of the hunter, who had not gone far. Turning back, the hunter spotted the deer and shot an arrow into the vine. The arrow pierced the deer’s heart.

As the deer lay dying, he reflected, “This is the price of my ingratitude. The vine saved my life, yet I repaid its kindness by harming it. I deserve this fate.”

Moral: Ingratitude often leads to one’s downfall.
