The Donkey and the Horse: A Lesson in Helping Others
Once upon a time, a trader owned a donkey and a horse. Every day, the trader would load the donkey heavily and travel to the city to sell his goods.
One particularly hot day, the donkey, burdened and exhausted, began to feel weak. He pleaded with the horse, “Please help me carry some of this load. I’m too tired to go on.”
The horse, however, coldly refused and replied, “It’s not my duty to carry loads. You must manage on your own.”
Overcome by the heat and heavy burden, the donkey soon collapsed and died. Left with no choice, the trader placed all the goods on the horse’s back and continued his journey. Now, the horse had to carry not only the trader’s load but also the burden that had once been the donkey’s.
Moral: Those who refuse to help others in need may end up facing greater troubles themselves.
