The Goat and the Wolf: A Lesson in Humility
One day, a goat was grazing near her owner’s cottage when she noticed fresh green grass growing on the roof. Tempted by the sight, she leaped onto the roof and began feasting on the tender shoots.
As she enjoyed her meal, a wolf wandered by. Spotting the goat, his mouth watered at the thought of an easy meal. But despite his hunger, the wolf couldn’t reach the roof. Realizing it was futile, he decided to search elsewhere for prey.
The goat, noticing his frustration, couldn’t resist taunting him. She looked down with mocking eyes and laughed at his helplessness. The wolf, though annoyed, kept his composure.
Before leaving, he glanced up and said, “You may laugh, young lady, but let me remind you—it’s not your wit or strength keeping you safe, but the height of your position. Value it, for it is the only thing between you and danger.”
Moral of the Story:
Your position can offer protection and value, but it’s wise to recognize that it’s the position, not arrogance, that shields you from harm.
