The Wolf and the Lamb: A Lesson in Trust
Once upon a time, a wolf spotted a lamb grazing at a distance and decided to make it his next meal. Stealthily, he crept toward the unsuspecting creature.
However, the lamb noticed the wolf in time and bolted for safety. The wolf gave chase, but the nimble lamb managed to escape into a nearby temple, where it felt safe from harm.
Frustrated, the wolf stood outside the temple and called out to the lamb in a gentle, persuasive voice. “Dear lamb,” he said, feigning concern, “this temple is a dangerous place for you. The priest may catch you and offer you as a sacrifice to the gods. Come out, and I’ll ensure you’re safe.”
The lamb, sensing the wolf’s deceit, replied calmly from within, “Thank you for your concern, Mr. Wolf, but I’d rather take my chances with the priest’s altar than step outside to fill your stomach.”
Hearing this, the wolf realized his cunning plan had failed. Unable to argue, he left grumbling in defeat.
Moral of the Story:
Never trust the advice of someone who stands to benefit from your downfall.
