Perspectives Shape the Truth
Once upon a time, a man and a lion were traveling together. To pass the time, they began chatting, their conversation starting off pleasant and lighthearted. However, it wasn’t long before pride got the better of them, and each began claiming superiority over the other. Their friendly banter turned into a heated argument, with tensions rising to the brink of a fight.
Just then, they came upon a crossroad where a striking statue stood. It depicted a man triumphantly strangling a lion, with the lion appearing helpless and on the verge of defeat.
The man pointed proudly at the statue and said, “See that? Doesn’t it prove my point, Mr. Lion?”
The lion, unperturbed, responded with a calm smile, “That’s only because it was made by a man. If lions sculpted statues, you’d see men beneath our powerful paws.”
Humbled by the lion’s words, the man fell silent. Realizing the futility of their argument, both cooled their tempers and continued their journey together in peace.
Moral:
The truth often depends on the perspective of the storyteller. Always seek to understand both sides before drawing conclusions.
