Bahlool and Reason

Harun al-Rashid asked Bahlool, “What are the greatest blessings from God?” Bahlool replied, “Reason.” He added, “It is said that when God wants to take a blessing away from His servant, the first thing He removes is reason. Reason is considered a form of sustenance, but alas, God has withheld this blessing from me.”
