Bahlool and the Poor Meal
brahim Sheibani recounts, “One day, I came across Bahlool while he was sitting with a plate of unappetizing food before him. Curious, I asked, ‘Will you share some of that food with me?’
Bahlool replied, ‘This food does not belong to me. It was sent by Atika, the daughter of the caliph. She gave it to me to feed it to her… but not to myself!'”
With his quick wit, Bahlool turned the situation into a humorous jab at the poor quality of the food, implying that even the sender might not consider it fit to eat.
