Bahlool’s Quick Wit

One day, Harun al-Rashid’s minister jokingly said to Bahlul, “Congratulations, the caliph has entrusted you with the rule over ‘wolves and pigs.'”

Without missing a beat, Bahlul replied, “You have understood and confirmed my rule. From now on, be careful not to disobey me.”

The people present at the gathering burst into laughter, and the minister became embarrassed.
