The court of King Krishnadevaraya was bustling with discussion about improving agriculture in Telangana. Ministers debated how to utilize the Thungabhadra River for irrigation, and experts proposed various solutions.

When Tenali Raman’s turn came, he approached the king with a curious suggestion. Holding a plate of paddy seeds, he said, “These seeds will triple the yield if sown correctly. However, they require a unique condition.”

The king, intrigued but skeptical, asked, “What condition is that?”

Raman replied, “The person who sows the seeds must not have the habit of yawning.”

This claim baffled the king. “Is there anyone in the world who does not yawn?” he asked, yawning involuntarily as he spoke.

Raman seized the moment to explain, “Exactly, Your Majesty. Yawning is a natural reflex. Scolding someone for yawning, especially when tired, is unfair.”

The king immediately grasped the meaning behind Raman’s words. He recalled how he had unjustly reprimanded Queen Thirumalambal for yawning while he recited his poem. Realizing his mistake, he decided to set things right.

The Happy Ending

That evening, the king visited the harem and apologized to the queen for his misunderstanding. The queen, overjoyed, forgave him, and peace was restored. Both the king and queen thanked Raman for his clever intervention and presented him with lavish gifts.

Moral of the Tales:

Misunderstandings often arise from human nature’s simplicity. Patience and perspective can mend even the most strained relationships.
