Once upon a time, there lived a sage named Narada, who was known for his wisdom and devotion. One day, Narada felt proud of his devotion and believed he had conquered all temptations. His heart was full of self-confidence, and he wished to share his achievement with others. He went to Lord Shiva, boasting about his spiritual strength.

Lord Shiva listened to Narada’s words but offered him a piece of advice. “Narada,” Shiva said gently, “it is best not to speak of one’s spiritual achievements, especially to Lord Vishnu. He may not view your pride favorably.” But Narada, brimming with self-assurance, dismissed Shiva’s advice. He decided to visit Lord Vishnu and speak of his greatness regardless.

When Narada approached Vishnu and shared his story, Vishnu only smiled and replied, “Be on guard, Narada.” But the sage ignored Vishnu’s subtle warning, feeling sure of his own purity and strength.

On his way back, Narada saw a beautiful princess named Shrimati, the daughter of King Sheelanidhi. Mesmerized by her beauty, Narada wished to marry her. Yet, there was one problem: many other suitors sought her hand as well. Narada prayed earnestly to Lord Vishnu, requesting to be given a handsome appearance to impress the princess.

But Vishnu, with his mysterious ways, granted Narada the face of a monkey instead! Unaware of this transformation, Narada confidently approached the palace. When he arrived, everyone burst into laughter at the sight of his monkey face. Narada was humiliated, realizing his error and pride.

Lord Vishnu appeared before him and gently reminded him, “True devotion lies in humility, Narada. Pride can cloud even the purest of hearts.”

From that day, Narada understood the importance of humility and never again boasted of his achievements.

**Moral:** True devotion is humble and silent; pride in one’s spiritual achievements can lead to downfall.
