The Appearance of Chandi During Draupadi’s Swayamvara

In the epic Mahabharata, King Drupada held a swayamvara (marriage ceremony) for his daughter, Draupadi. The challenge was near impossible—any suitor had to shoot an arrow through the eye of a rotating fish by only looking at its reflection in water. Suitors from far and wide attempted the feat, but none could succeed.

However, Draupadi’s father had invoked Goddess Chandi to ensure that only a righteous and worthy man would win her hand. When Arjuna, disguised as a poor Brahmin, stepped up to the challenge, he silently prayed to Chandi. With her blessings, he performed the impossible and struck the fish’s eye, winning Draupadi’s hand in marriage.

It was believed that without Chandi’s guidance, even Arjuna, the greatest archer of his time, would not have succeeded.

Moral: The story of Chandi’s involvement in Draupadi’s swayamvara shows that divine intervention and guidance can lead us to success, especially when the path seems difficult. When our intentions are pure and our actions are righteous, the divine will always guide us toward victory.
