Santa’s Kitten: The Tale of Iris
One day in the Enchanted Forest, the Dark Fairy was up to her mischief again. This time, her tricks caused a small white kitten to get lost. The kitten, unable to remember where she lived, wandered aimlessly until something remarkable happened.
The kitten and her three siblings had been outside looking for their mittens. The Dark Fairy, disguising herself as a blue butterfly, caught the white kitten’s attention. Playfully, the kitten chased the butterfly deep into the forest until they reached an old, dark well. As the kitten leaped onto the well’s edge, the butterfly transformed back into the Dark Fairy, startling her. The kitten lost her balance and fell into the cold, deep well.
The Dark Fairy’s laughter echoed as she flew away, leaving the kitten scared and alone. From the bottom of the well, the kitten cried, “Meow, Meow,” hoping someone would hear her.
Nearby, the Sugar Plum Fairies had come to visit their sister, the Purple Fairy. Hearing the kitten’s cries, they rushed to the well. The Pink Fairy waved her wand, lifting the kitten gently into the air and out of the well. Cold, wet, and frightened, the kitten shivered as the Blue Fairy asked, “Who put you in the well?”
The kitten replied, “I don’t know. I was chasing a blue butterfly, and then I fell.”
The Orange Fairy frowned. “It must have been the Dark Fairy. She loves causing trouble.”
The Green Fairy asked softly, “Where is your home?” The kitten, still trembling, answered, “I don’t know. I can’t remember.” The Orange Fairy then asked, “Would you like to come with us to the North Pole?” The kitten, eyes wide with hope, said, “Yes, I’d love to.”
The fairies worked their magic, and together they flew to the North Pole, the kitten soaring beside them.
When they arrived, Mrs. Claus was delighted to see the kitten. “Santa will be thrilled!” she exclaimed. “He had a white kitten with green eyes just like this one when he was a boy.”
The fairies whispered among themselves before asking Mrs. Claus, “Would you like to take care of her?” Mrs. Claus clapped her hands with joy. “Oh, yes! May I?” she asked. The kitten looked up at Mrs. Claus and purred, “Yes, I’d like that very much.”
When Santa came home, he was surprised to find a new kitten in the house. “Who is this little one?” he asked. Mrs. Claus smiled. “She doesn’t have a name yet. I got her for you!” Santa laughed heartily, “Ho Ho Ho, thank you! She’s wonderful. Let’s call her Iris, after her beautiful green eyes.”
Though Santa’s dog, Fudge, was unsure about the new addition, he quickly became best friends with Iris. They slept close together and shared many adventures.
Iris proved to be a great help at the North Pole. She assisted Mrs. Claus in the kitchen, although her habit of napping sometimes got in the way. One day, Jack Frost played a prank and hid the baking ingredients. With her quick thinking, Iris helped Mrs. Claus solve the riddle and retrieve the missing items.
On Christmas Eve, Iris played a vital role in helping Santa load the sleigh. She tossed gifts into the sack with precision—most of the time. When mischievous goblins tried to steal presents, Iris defended them with her snowball cannon, ensuring Santa’s delivery went smoothly.
As Santa took off into the night sky, guided by the Man in the Moon and the Orange Fairy’s magic, Iris settled in for a well-earned rest. Her days were full of joy, mischief, and purpose, and she knew she was exactly where she belonged.
